Norijada – The end of school in Zagreb

It’s a Croatian “ritual”. The last day of highschool, students from all over the city gather in the center and go crazy.

They wear their class teeshirt, whistle, make noise, attend free concerts and party early into the morning, although the party officially ends at 22h. They sing, spill flour, throw eggs and bathe in the city fountain. I found myself at the maisquare, right in the middle of it. Freedom was in the air. Police was on alert.

It all made me think about school again…these Woody Allen and George Carlin quotes hold some truth. But to be honest, I really loved school, even when I hated it.

“I had a terrible education. I attended a school for emotionally disturbed teachers.”
Woody Allen

Once you leave out all the bullshit they teach you in school, life gets really simple.”
―George Carlin
